Newsletter #2: TBIs
Ok so on this month’s newsletter we are going to discuss TBIs or also know as Traumatic Brain Injuries.
So what is a TBI?
TBI or Traumatic Brain Injury is an injury to the brain, it can range from mild to severe. Military service members are prone to TBIs due to combat and training missions.
Symptoms of a TBI:
headaches
irritability
sleep disorders
memory problems
slower thinking
depression
TBIs have been known to not appear on imaging, making a diagnosis that much more difficult. 185,000 Veterans that seek medical care at the VA say that have at least one TBI. It is imperative that the TBI is put on record, in case future treatment is needed. Some service members and Veterans have experienced situations where they need further care, even years after the injury.
